The Rodeo

{don't ya love this picture! I love how he is looking in a totally different direction!!}
Ok...for those of you that know Ty he has such a way with words...sometimes the things that come out of his mouth make you think you are talking to a grown man not a 7 yr. old boy! He has quite the sense of humor too. So on Friday night we went to the Katy Rodeo. We had a blast...the kids loved it and I can't wait for next year! It's gonna be a new family tradition to attend the rodeo! Anyway...as we were leaving the kids stopped to look at some of the animals...mostly the cows they were close by. Kyler was mooing at them, Kailee and Austin were looking, and then I hear Ty talking, with no one else around so I walked a little closer and Ty says...to the cow..."I wonder how many hamburgers I could make out of you?" I about fell over! He wasn't even trying to be that funny...just actually wondering! So if anyone happens to know...Ty would love the answer!
Here are a few pictures of Kyler from the rodeo. You can buy a stickhorse and then be in the stickhorse races. They just let the kids run...it's pretty cute. Kyler decided he wanted to do that so...let me set the scene. Shawn is out of town, I am by myself at the rodeo...I tell the other 3 kids, don't go anywhere we will be right back, watch for us. I cannot fit into tennis shoes yet {foot still to swollen for them to be comfortable}, so I am wearing flip-flops! I know who wears flip-flops to the rodeo?...in February? {oh yeah it was about 45-50 degrees outside} BUT Kyler really wants to race so being the wonderful mom I am {I deserve a medal} I tromped out in the arena...up to my ankles in mud and whatever else the animals happened to leave behind so that Kyler can race his "horse"! He ran hard and guess what he won!!! Well, all the kids won! But Kyler thinks he won cuz he got a ribbon for participating and he didn't see any of the other kids get theirs...so as far as Kyler is concerned, and us too for that matter...Kyler won!!! After it was over we made our way to the bathroom so that I could wash a little of the mud {I would like to think it was just mud} off in the freezing cold water. The rodeo was fun...the kids also enjoyed watching the Mutton Bustin'...a little girl from our ward won! It was awesome!

what a helper!!

So as some of you know...I suffer mildly from OCD...(humor me with the mild part...ok?) So when Shawn goes out of town there is a certain order I need the house to be in so I can function when he isn't here to help me! Since Saturday was our last day together for 2 weeks...we didn't want to spend it cleaning!...who would right? That meant that Sunday after dad's car picked him up to go to the airport...mom goes into drill sargent mode...for just a minute though to get everybody on board to help out! I have such fabulous kids and they are so willing to help...cuz they know if I can function their lives are easier! They were fantastic...they all pitched in and we got the downstairs picked up in record time! I had to share these pics of Kyler...he wanted so badly to do the vacuuming ...all the other kids gladly deferred the job to him and he had a ball doing it!! My living room looked fab when he was done!!

more sound of music pics!!

Here are a couple more pics of Kailee's Sound of Music days! :)
This one is of her in the dressing room, wearing her "wedding gown"...showing me all of her costumes!Next, Kailee is showing me the oh so beautiful and super comfortable microphone...the director didn't want to see them so they had to weave them into and through their hair for the performances and they stuck to their heads with double stick tape!Kailee on stage at rehearsal in her "play clothes" ...sets still being built in the background!The Von Trapp family singing in the festival...not a great picture but I wasn't aloud to use my flash...unless I wanted to unleash the wrath of the director on me...um, no thank you! Kailee is 3rd from the right in the line of kids. Kailee, the morning of the first performance...with dad having some breakfast...she did a show in the morning for some elementary school kids and Austin's class was one that got to go see it!!After the last show with a ton of makeup plastered to her face still...she didn't want anymore pictures....too bad!In the lobby of the PAC center they had pics of the actors...she is posing next to her bio pic, the one that was in the program. It is right about her flowers.Standing next to a pic in the lobby again...it's a picture of the Von Trapp children singing so Long Farewell...she is in her "ball gown" in the picture.

Our Family Blog

So I have decided to start a separate blog for the family. I am going to try and keep friends and family updated with our lives and...well let's face it share pics of the kids...cuz I know ya'll aren't dying to know about Shawn and I...although you may have to suffer through some stuff about us!! So to start off our first post I thought I would share a couple of pics from last night and some Sound of Music pics. Last night was Valentines Day!! A great day for me! Shawn surprised me with tickets to go see Michal Buble!!! (no..not pronounced bubble) Oh...my heart is swooning right now...don't ya just love that voice!!! I can't wait to go!! March 1st!!! Anyway...Shawn & I went to get new cell phones too...ours were old...from 2006! Those darn Verizon people...they always have some deal to make us cave...so we ended up getting Kailee a new phone and getting one for Austin too! ...{I tried to talk Shawn into getting one for Ty and Kyler but he wouldn't have it!!} It was funny last night...I came into the office and this is what I saw...Shawn, Kailee & Austin playing with their new phones and Tyson & Kyler playing with their "new" hand me down phones!! {please over look the mess in the office...it was clean before the kids came home from school!}
Here are a few pics of Kailee from the Sound of Music!!!
