Kyler's Birthday Party

Kyler wanted a Mario Party. We decided that the weather would be nice enough so we rented a fun inflatable toy! The kids had a blast! They played out there for 2 solid hours! (Kyler stayed outside the ENTIRE day until about 10 or 10:30pm!!)
Melissa Gleason made this darling cake! Fabulous huh!!!
Kyler couldn't believe it! To say he LOVED it would be an understatement!!!
Lots of fun friends came to spend the day with Kyler!!!

He had to think a minute before he made his wish...you have to take your time you only get one ya know!
After the party was over, Kyler's best friend Adam stayed to play. I even went and joined in on their fun!
Best Buds
Dad wanted in on the fun too!
I forgot to get my camera out later that night to take any pictures but we ended the day by having tin foil dinners with our friend the Daileys. It was very fun!!!

Kyler's 8th Birthday! (with family)

Grammie and Gramps got Kyler this awesome Rockets jersey...anything basketball related is a hit with him!
A mario blanket...he sleeps with it every night now!
MONEY!!! (no caption necessary)
We laughed when he opened his card...I bought him this card and Aunt Tami sent the same one!
A super yummy cookie cake that Kyler's primary teach, Jenny Bustos made for him! He loved it and loved that he got his very own giant cookie!
Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is what he wanted! It's his fave!
make a wish...
We took Kyler to see Rango at Alamo Drafthouse. He wanted dinner and a movie with Mom and Dad for his birthday dinner! He loves the burger and fries at Alamo.
After cookies and ice cream, Kyler couldn't escape dad and the birthday spankings! Shawn had to catch Kyler this year, this was a little different than a few years ago when Kyler walked right up to Shawn, turned around and stuck his little hind end at him! :o)
...6, 7 & 8
Happy Birthday Kyler Jakers!

End of the season for the Longhorns

Kyler's basketball team, The Longhorns! Kyler played in the Katy Youth League.
They did awesome. They took first place in their league!
Kyler had so much fun...he really loved getting to know all these boys too!
After getting his trophy! He couldn't believe how cool and big it was!
Look at all those trophies to give out!
All the boys got to run through a line of adults getting high-5's! Kyler loved it!

Kyler won Best Design and I can't remember what Ty won, but I will be back to update!

Kyler's Baptism

Kyler and Dad....ready to be dunked

being silly for all the pictures!
Grandma Sue and Aunt Tami came for Kyler's special day!
Kyler's good friend Aysa came (she is wearing the white and purple stripes)
Tyson is good friends with her older sister Savannah...they live just down the street and I am so glad they were able to come! Kyler was happy to have them there.

I really can't even believe that Kyler, my baby, is 8 and was baptized! Shawn thought it was a great day! I did too, don't get me wrong but at the end of the day after kids were in bed Shawn asked me, "What's up with you, you have been so quiet today?" I was just a little sad that it was our last baptism! He said that's right that's why you should be celebrating! :o) {boys just don't get it!} It was such a fun day. At the baptism, he asked all of us to be a part of the program, Austin & I gave talks, Tyson was our chorister, Kailee sang a song and of course dad did the honors! We also have to thank our wonderful, fantabulous friends who Kyler asked to be a part of the program too, Leah Dailey played piano, Ticia Ravenberg gave a prayer and Jenny Bustos (a primary teacher) gave a prayer as well. After his baptism we got subway sandwiches and went to the park with the Daileys and the Gleasons...it was a gorgeous day for the park!
The pic below is the one we put on Kyler's invitation.

Our First Garden

Our very first garden....now right away I need to tell you...all you gardeners out there tell me if I messed this whole thing up! I have had so much anxiety about doing this wrong I almost didn't post the pictures!
We decided to do a 5x8 raised box. It was so easy! I already want to make another one right next to it. I want one for veggies and one for fruit! We worked on this ALOT last week! The kids all helped and it was really fun even though we were completely exhausted! (made me very grateful I don't do that kind of physical labor for a living!)
We bought a net to put around it to keep the birds out of the tomatoes and also to keep Bella out of it!!!
We planted a salsa garden with a few extra things. So we have cilantro, basil, garlic chives, oregano, strawberries, jalapenos, red & green peppers, 4 different kinds of tomatoes (better bush, better boy and roma) sweet onions, green onions, zucchini and squash
I made some cute labels for all of our stuff....did you doubt it? It was one of the first things I thought of when we started talking about a garden! Look at that!!! We already have our first red strawberry, 2 of them actually...it's a big deal...we are going to pick them together when everyone gets home tonight!
I think one of jalapenos isn't going to make it...due tot he fact that when we came home from church on Sunday, Bella had dug it up and had it across the yard! She also dug 2 other holes! She is lucky to be alive....this is one of those things that makes me wonder why we thought it was a good idea to get a dog?!
The squash is coming up...these were planted from seeds! I can't believe how exciting it is to see a little green leaf come up out of the ground!

Tyson's dinner

Taco Cups
getting the "cups" ready for the oven these are just the Pillsbury Grand Biscuits flattened out and formed over an upside down cupcake tray
so careful...I can totally trust him with the oven! It's great!
he LOVES to cut stuff! These tomatoes were perfectly diced! I love that little tongue...he is just concentrating so hard!
even though he doesn't like cheese he is happy to grate it!
the rest of the toppings
ready to dish up!! Tyson's Taco Cup
This was one of the funnest, yummiest dinners we have ever had! The whole family had fun dishing up and eating! All the kids went back for seconds! It was fun to see Ty so proud of his work and the other kids just praising him for a job well done! I am going to come back later when I have more time and add the recipe!

Austin's desk

Austin has been taking woodshop as one of his electives this year in schcool. This is the desk he made. We have been hearing about it for months! It was fun to finally see it all finished! It turned out pretty great for being the first thing he has ever built!! I am still waiting to hear the exact total on how much this thing ended up costing!!! He has really enjoyed woodshop and Mr. Harrington his teacher. He is now making a chair to go with his desk!
